When should children first see the dentist?

  1. As a parent, have you ever asked yourself, “When should my child have a first dental appointment?” This is a very common question. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and University Pediatric Dentistry recommend “first visit by first birthday.”

An early visit to the dentist is crucial to ensure that your child’s mouth is healthy and that growth and development are proceeding at a normal rate.Kids
  3. What happens at this first visit? Both you and your child will get acquainted with the dental office staff. Your child will receive a thorough examination and complete cleaning. The hygienist or dentist will share proper brushing and flossing techniques with you.
  4. How can I help protect my child’s teeth at home? There are other ways that you can help your child have a health mouth. Brush your child’s teeth twice a day with a small soft-bristle toothbrush that contains a pea-sized smear of toothpaste.
