Rachel AndersonDr. Rachel Anderson

Dr. Rachel Anderson attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Dr. Rachel then spent four years serving as a general dentist for the U.S. Navy where she was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. She then went on to complete her pediatric dentistry residency at the Harvard affiliated Boston Children’s Hospital. 

Dr. Rachel is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and holds memberships with the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Eighth District Dental Society. She is currently a clinical instructor for dental students and residents. Dr. Rachel enjoys outreach projects and has participated in service trips to Honduras, Cambodia and Chile providing dental care to underserved populations. 

In her spare time, Dr. Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She also competes in triathlons and loves to travel.

J BernatDr. Joseph Bernat

Dr. Joseph Bernat is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where he completed both his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and his specialty training in pediatric dentistry. He served for twenty eight years as Chairman of the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry and Chief of Dentistry at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. He has also served as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Associate Dean for Hospital and Community Affairs. He is currently the director of Postgraduate Education in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Bernat has been a Clinical Associate Professor and full-time faculty member in Pediatric and Community Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine since 1975.

Dr. Bernat has been honored with many awards including the Pierre Fauchard Academia Fellowship for Outstanding Service to Organized Dentistry, the American Society of Dentistry for Children Award, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Fraternity Award for Academic Achievement. Dr. Bernat has lectured all over the world on numerous topics, many related to child abuse, has been the recipient of multiple research grants, and has participated in countless service activities throughout Buffalo, the United States and overseas. He is a prolific writer and has had more than 45 dental articles published. 

Dr. Bernat is a member of 14 associations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association, the Buffalo Pediatric Society and the Western New York Association of Pediatric Dentists. 

In his free time, Dr. Bernat stays busy with his children and grandchildren and enjoys traveling and sailing.

BurchDr. Kelly Burch

Dr. Kelly Burch graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2014. She minored in pediatrics before completing her general practice residency in 2015 at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). Before that, Dr. Kelly attended Erie Community College and received her associate degree in applied science/dental hygiene in 2006. In 2009, she graduated from the University at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedicine. 

Dr. Kelly is a member of the American Dental Association, the Eighth District Dental Society, the UB Alumni Association and the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA).

Dr. Kelly loves to spend her free time with her family, including her two Labradors, Benelli and Henley. She has a passion for fitness and runs half-marathons as well as local, shorter races.

CertoDr. Margaret Certo

Dr. Margaret Certo received her dental degree from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine (UBSDM) in 1989 and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UBSDM in 1991. After a one-year fellowship at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, she joined University Pediatric Dentistry where she enjoys both treating patients and helping teach future dentists and specialists.

Dr. Certo is a member of numerous local, regional, and national organizations and participates in many service activities in the community. She is a native of Western New York and enjoys all that the area has to offer.

Dr. WellsDr. Dian Chin Kit-Wells

Dr. Dian is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where she completed both her Doctorate of Dental Surgery as well as her specialty training in pediatric dentistry. She also completed a general practice residency at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She joined University Pediatric Dentistry in 2001. 

Dr. Dian completed her undergraduate education at Howard University and had previously graduated from the Dental Nurses Training School in Trinidad.

Dr. Dian has served as faculty in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry for the University at Buffalo since 2000, and also is an attending pediatric dentist for the pediatric dentistry specialty training program. She serves as both clinical instructor for pre-doctoral students at the School of Dental Medicine, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry, focusing much of her teaching on community dental programs. Dr. Dian has received numerous awards including the Minority Dental Faculty Development Award for Scholarly Activity and the Dental Women’s Guild Scholarship.

Dr. Dian has chaired the Bethel Head Start's Health Advisory Board, been a board member of the Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network, Inc. and continues to lecture to community organizations on the importance of oral health in very young children.  She has participated in numerous international service trips to the Dominican Republic, Belize, Mexico, India and her home town in Trinidad and Tobago.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Eighth District Dental Society, the American Dental Education Association, the National Dental Association and the American Dental Association. 

Dr. Dian received the 2015 Alumni Association Humanitarian Award from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. She continues to live and work between Buffalo, Arizona and Trinidad and Tobago. She enjoys Zumba, traveling and making kids smile.

CreightonDr. Paul Creighton (UPD Dental Associates President and CEO)

Dr. Paul Creighton is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he completed both his dental degree and his specialty training in pediatric dentistry. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Louis University. 

Dr. Creighton co-founded University Pediatric Dentistry in 1986. 

Dr. Paul has served as faculty in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry for the University at Buffalo since 1986, and as Assistant Dean of Pediatric and Community Dentistry since 2004. He also serves as both clinical instructor for pre-doctoral students at the School of Dental Medicine, and as clinical director for the specialty training program in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Paul is as advisor to the Maternal and Infant Health Clinic and is the director of the Low Birth Weight/Premature Infant Dental Plate Program. He has published papers spanning numerous topics, many related to sedation and has also received multiple research grants in the Buffalo community. He also helps to direct many service activities throughout Buffalo including Give Kids a Smile Day and Smile Education Day.

Dr. Paul is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Eighth District Dental Society, the Erie County Dental Society, the Western New York Pediatric Dentistry Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. EckerDr. Brad Ecker

Dr. Brad Ecker is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery as well as specialty training in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Brad completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Ithaca College.

In addition to his work as an attending dentist at University Pediatric Dentistry and serving as a clinical instructor in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry at the University at Buffalo, Dr. Brad has his own private practice in Batavia, NY. He also has surgical privileges at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. 

Dr. Brad is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Society, the Eighth District Dental Society and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He also served as past president of the Tri-County Dental Society.

Dr. Brad is married and has four children, one daughter and three sons. He enjoys hiking, camping, shooting and watching his favorite baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles!

M FallonDr. Melissa Fallon

Dr. Melissa Fallon graduated from Nardin Academy here in Buffalo, NY before going on to the University at Buffalo for her undergraduate degree. After leaving the University at Buffalo, Dr. Melissa attended New York University College of Dentistry, graduating in 2008. She did her residency at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY.

After finishing her residency, Dr. Melissa began practicing privately and has been doing so since. She joined UPD Dental Associates in 2014. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Eighth District Dental Society and the New York State Dental Association.

Dr. Melissa is a mother of two young children.

Dr. Brendan Fallon

Dr. T. Brendan Fallon, DDS is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Prior to dental school, Dr. Fallon attended Princeton University where he received his bachelor’s degree in the History of Science. Dr. Fallon furthered his post-doctoral education by completing a general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Fallon completed his specialty training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at West Virginia University where he was chief resident. 

Dr. Fallon is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the New York State Society of Oral Surgeons, the Eight District Dental Society as well as the American Dental Association. He is licensed under the New York State Board of Dentistry, the West Virginia State Board of Dentistry and he is also NERB Certified. Dr. Fallon has been with University Pediatric Dentistry since July of 2014.

Dr. Amy Stone Nagai

Dr. Amy Stone Nagai is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where she completed both her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and specialty training in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Amy completed her undergraduate education at Hillsdale College in Michigan. 

Dr. Amy was a chief resident during her residency with University Pediatric Dentistry. She is a guest lecturer at the School of Dental Medicine for Pediatric Dentistry, as well as a faculty member for the School of Dental Medicine's Buffalo Outreach and Community Assistance program, which includes traveling locally, nationally and internationally for dental mission trips to treat the underserved. 

She is also currently a clinical instructor for dental students and residents at Women and Children's Hospital. Dr. Amy serves as a clinical champion for a national collaborative focused on Early Childhood Caries and improved management of children's dental health.

Dr. Amy is Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Eighth District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Association (where she serves as a representative to the New Dentist Committee), and the Western New York Association of Pediatric Dentists.

Doug OlsenDr. Douglas Olson

Dr. Douglas Olson is a graduate of Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Doug served in the United States Air Force as a general dentist for four years. During this time, he completed an advanced education as a general dentistry resident. While deployed on a humanitarian mission aboard the USNS Mercy, Dr. Doug developed an interest in craniofacial orthodontics while working alongside the Operation Smile team.

Upon leaving active duty, Dr. Doug pursued his specialty training in orthodontics. He received his Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science from University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Doug then went on to complete a fellowship in craniofacial orthodontics from New York University Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Doug joined UPD Dental Associates in July 2014 establishing a general orthodontic service for its patient population. He also is the orthodontist for the Craniofacial Center of Western New York at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and serves on its executive board. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Doug spends time as a clinical instructor and also gives lectures to the pediatric dental residents. 

Dr. Doug is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, as well as fishing.

Dr. PatelDr. Suketu Patel

Dr. Suketu Patel is a graduate of Ohio State University where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, and subsequently completed a general practice residency at the Medical College of Ohio. He completed his specialty training in pediatric dentistry through the University at Buffalo. “Dr. Suke” is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and joined University Pediatric Dentistry in 2005.

Dr. Suke has served as faculty in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry for the University at Buffalo since 2005, and serves as both clinical instructor for pre-doctoral students at the School of Dental Medicine, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry. Dr. Suke also serves as an attending pediatric dentist for the pediatric dentistry specialty training program. When he is not teaching or practicing dentistry, he spends much time on professional development attending conferences and meetings across the country.

Dr. Suke is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Eighth District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the College of Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Suke is married with three wonderful children and loves to spend time with friends and family. He enjoys traveling and is an avid Ohio State fan…Go Buckeyes!

RoseDr. Kelly Rose

Dr. Kelly Rose is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where she completed both her dental degree and her specialty training in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Kelly is Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and joined University Pediatric Dentistry in 2004. Dr. Kelly completed her undergraduate education at SUNY at Cortland, and earned her teaching certificate as well as a Master of Science degree from SUNY at Fredonia.

Dr. Kelly has served as faculty in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry for the University at Buffalo since 2005, and also serves as an attending pediatric dentist for the pediatric dentistry specialty training program. Dr. Kelly presented on research she completed at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual Meeting in San Francisco, “Investigation of the relationship of oral hygiene, oral bacteriology and respiratory disease in children with cerebral palsy and dysphagia.”

Dr. Kelly is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Eighth District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Society, the Erie County Dental Society, the Western New York Pediatric Dentistry Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Rose is married and has four beautiful children to keep her busy at home!

Dr. ThompsonDr. Tammy Thompson

Dr. Tammy Thompson is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Tammy then completed a general practice residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She pursued her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. 

Upon completion of her residencies, Dr. Tammy practiced in a hospital setting at Geisinger Medical Center. There she served as part of the craniofacial team, taught lectures to medical residents and was involved in community outreach programs during National Children’s Dental Health month. She is Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. 

Dr. Tammy serves as both clinical instructor for the pre-doctoral students at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry. Dr. Tammy is also a facilitator at the Behling Simulation Center and serves as an attending pediatric dentist for the pediatric dentistry specialty training program.

Dr. Tammy is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the New York State Dental Association and the Eighth District Dental Society.

Dr. WanamakerDr. Carrie Wanamaker

Dr. Carrie Wanamaker is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where she completed both her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and her specialty training in pediatric dentistry. Knowing that she wanted to be a dentist since she was sixteen, Dr. Carrie majored in Biology at Canisius College before attending the University at Buffalo. 

Dr. Carrie will serve as a guest lecturer in pediatric dentistry courses for pre-doctorate dental students at the University at Buffalo. She is currently working to establish a maternal infant program in the community to educate mothers about the importance of oral health for their young children. Dr. Carrie has participated in service trips to Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Tennessee and Kentucky to provide dental care to underserved patients. 

Dr. Carrie is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Juan F. Yepes

Dr. Juan F. Yepes is originally from Colombia, South America. He moved to the United States in 1998 and became a proud U.S. citizen in 2008. Dr. Juan is both a dentist (DDS) and a physician (MD) from Javeriana University at Bogota, Colombia. In 1999, Dr. Juan moved to the U.S. and attended the University of Iowa and the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his fellowship and residency in Radiology and Oral Medicine respectively in 2002 and 2004. 

In 2006, Dr. Yepes completed a Master in Public Health (MPH) degree, and in 2011 a Doctoral Degree in Public Health (DrPH) at the University of Kentucky, College of Public Health. Both degrees had an emphasis in Epidemiology. In 2008, Dr. Juan completed a residency program in Dental Public Health at the University of Texas, Baylor College of Dentistry. Finally, in 2012 he completed a certificate and Master of Science degree in pediatric dentistry at the University of Kentucky. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Board of Oral Medicine, the American Board of Dental Public Health and is currently an associate professor in pediatric dentistry at Indiana University.
